Police car the suspects travelled
The truck was hijacked on Monday morning in the Germiston area on the East Rand. Ground crew were dispatched without success on the same day. The truck gave out signal again after 18:00 moving towards Pretoria CBD. On returning from Pretoria the truck was picked up on the N1. A marked South African Police Vehicle was spotted following the truck. Officers from the SAPS Pretoria Flying Squad was contacted and it was established that the said SAPS Vehicle was not in radio contact. The truck and the SAPS Quantum were forced off the road at the Olifantsfontein off-ramp on the R21. The individual driving the truck was found to have an unlicensed firearm in his possession. The occupants of the SAPS Vehicle were found to be reservists from the South African Police Provincial Head Office in Johannesburg.

Stolen truck found.
After thorough interrogation it was found by the Police Officers of Pretoria Flying Squad that the reservist members were involved in misconduct in that they were on their way to sell the hijacked vehicle. They already had falsified Natis documents and number plates for the said truck in their possession. All 5 reservists and 1 civilian were arrested.
The truck was impounded at Olifantsfontein SAPS.
