A Toyota Tazz was stolen from the Pretoria University campus in June. The vehicle was activated on the Tracetec system and the SAPS informed. A joint operation between Tracetec recovery agents and the SAPS was launched and the vehicle recovered in Mamelodi. Two suspects were arrested by the SAPS and taken into custody. The Toyota Tazz already had a new registration and vin number. It was also discovered that the car had been sold to a new, unsuspecting owner, who was more than happy to introduce the salesman of the Tazz to the SAPS.
It is always gratifying to uncover and expose the criminal networks operating behind the individuals who steal the vehicles. Well done to the SAPS and Tracetec recovery team.
