The recent recovery of an Isuzu truck attests to the uniqueness of our recovery device. Because it is small, independent of wiring and can be fitted almost anywhere in the vehicle, it is exceptionally difficult to find. This feature enhances our ability to recover vehicles even if they are stripped down for parts. The Isuzu truck, stolen in November 2011, was stripped but the Tracetec tag was left undiscovered and intact. On 11 January 2012 a signal from the Tracetec tag in the Isuzu was picked up by our tracking infrastructure along the N12 east near Daveyton. Recovery agents and the SAPS found the signal emanating from a truck transporting vehicle parts. The SAPS pulled the truck off the road and made three arrests after the Tracetec recovery agents confirmed that parts of the stolen Isuzu truck were on the back of the truck. The SAPS are investigating the case and we hope the arrests will lead the SAPS to the discovery of a possible vehicle theft syndicate.
