On Monday 28 March at 19h36, the Tracetec Call Centre received a signal from the tracking device of a stolen compressor moving in the direction of Diepsloot. The Recovery team responded immediately and began patrolling the area. A second signal was later received from the R511 indicating the compressor moving in the direction of Pretoria West.
The Recovery team located a mini bus towing the stolen compressor in a trailer on the R511. They directed the driver of the mini bus to pull off the road but he attempted to access the onramp to the N14 highway. The Recovery team blocked access to the onramp with their vehicle, forcing the mini bus driver to stop his vehicle. Two suspects, who were on their way to Zimbabwe via Botswana, were arrested on the scene. The compressor was discovered in the trailer, covered with a variety of food and household items. Also recovered were 120 boxes of fake Levi and Puma clothing.
The suspects and evidence were delivered to Erasmia SAPS, where the suspects were charged with possession of stolen property.
